Are parcel lockers the future for B2C and C2C deliveries to help the environment?

As far as parcel deliveries go things are only going to get busier and the prevalence of delivery vehicles in residential areas will increase. This is predominantly due to B2C deliveries due to the ongoing rise in online shopping but there is also a growing trend in what is know as C2C or consumer to consumer. More and more people are re-selling items to raise extra cash due to the current cost of living, or with an aim to reduce wastage. Parcel lockers could be the solution to both of these sectors as they are often in handy locations that people are visiting or passing as part of their day-to-day lives. By increasing their usage it means that collection/delivery vehicles have fewer spots to visit within an area thus reducing their presence. Another bonus of these lockers is as a counter to doorstep theft and fraud, which is also on the increase. As delivery drivers come under more pressure, especially around Christmas, they often are unable to obtain delivery signatures and have to leave items on the doorstep. This means that they are easy pickings for thieves, but also less scrupulous parcel receivers are claiming that items have not been delivered as they know there is no real proof of delivery. Lockers record all activity and often have cameras recording their usage, which completely eliminates both of these issues.
